Lee’s Crossing

Monthly Newsletter                                                             October 2008

From the President:

Dear Neighbors,

Lee’s Trace

You may have noticed a steel plate over a sewer repair in the middle of the decorative concrete at the front entrance. This is the first step towards the work the City has planned for Lee’s Trace. The next steps will be the demolition of the existing decorative concrete and the grinding down of the asphalt the length of Lee’s Trace. Next the City will then repave the entire street, including where the current decorative concrete is located.

After the dirt underneath the pavement at the front entrance has become fully compacted (about two months), the neighborhood will engage a contractor to sawcut a 12’ section of the road at the front entrance and replace the asphalt with red pavers. We expect the cost to be approximately $5,000, in comparison with $45,000 the City quoted the Board to renew the decorative concrete as it was.

Neighborhood Watch

Recently a neighbor called me with the report that a stranger (an older white male with a beard) was seen trying her front door and then walking between and behind some neighborhood homes. Although this person’s intent was unknown, I encouraged her to call the police. The person was not caught and I think it is important that we be vigilant about those who are suspicious. Please keep your doors and windows locked as a matter of course and call the police if you see something that just doesn’t fit.

New Clubhouse Manager

After several years of managing the clubhouse, Debbie Kelleher is going to pass this task along, as of October 16, to Melissa Hinceman. Melissa can be reached at 404-839-1211. If you see Debbie out walking her two labs, please say thanks for a job well done.

The Parking Lot at the Club

It is the Board’s intent that the parking lot be repaved prior to the pool opening next spring. We are hopeful that asphalt prices will decline in the next few months so we can get this done at a reasonable price. Currently, our best estimate has been approximately $30,000.

Lost and Found

Found on Lee’s Trace after Labor Day was a case with a variety of CDs. Call Walt Walker to describe.

Thanks again for all those who were involved in another successful summer season.

                                                                        Walt Walker

Other Social News

The Labor Day party was a huge success!  It was wonderful to see so many people come out.  I think that's our biggest turnout in 4 years.   A very big thank you to David Hettrich for all the planning, preparing, etc.   Also thanks to Sandy Wilson for help with all the grilling, and everyone else that pitched in a hand here and there....it really is appreciated.   We volunteers like to enjoy the neighborhood parties too.

Plan ahead for the annual New Year's Eve Party.  Again, the cost will be lower when you prepay.  We prefer this being for residents only, but will have a non-resident fee if you want to invite a limited number of family or friends to come.  Come for part of the evening, late night,  or all night!!  We'll have a different caterer this year with excellent food I'm told.  Yes, you can look forward to the mock casino night that night as well, which is growing in popularity.  Free wine, beer and mixers.  Also, we'll have a DJ and dancing (I'm hoping to get a few of my ballroom buddies, and maybe even a teacher to show off/ teach a few steps).

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  for New Year's Eve Party.   We hope to have 2 or 3 more people willing to help set up, but mostly for clean up.  Any night owls out there??  Also, I'd love to give out door prizes again.  If gathering these from area merchants is your forte, please call me:  Janet 770-427-1502

Holiday Extravaganza in Lee’s Crossing Clubhouse!

November 8, 2008   9am-5pm

Avoid the traffic and the malls by joining us for a day of early Christmas shopping!  Unique vendors will be joining us.   There will be jewelry, stationary, monogramming, designer purses, baby gifts, and lots of other unique gifts and other items that are a must see!   If you are a vendor and would like to participate, please contact Debbie Holman, 770-425-8669.

Be sure to book the clubhouse early for any events you are planning!  Call Debbie Kelleher (thru 10/15)   at 678-354-7042 or Melissa Hincerman at 404-839-1211(after 10/15).

Welcome New Neighbors!
