                                                                                                              May 2013

Dear Neighbors,

Let me begin my first letter as President by thanking Brad Herr for a great job leading the homes association for the past two years as President. Thank you! Also, I would like to welcome David Hettrich to the Board to fill a vacant Director’s position. David and his family reside on Lee’s Trace.

May is a busy month in Lee’s Crossing and Marietta.

·         We have a number of students graduating this Spring.

·         The Lee’s Crossing swim team gets into action with practice later in May.

·         Concerts and Art Walk on the Square have started.

·         Best of all, the Pool opens Memorial Day Weekend.

So get prepared to enjoy the summer!

Couple of important notes:

·         As you get out and start spring cleaning in the yard, make sure to check your mailbox post and give it a good scrub or new coat of paint. REMINDER – the homes association provides free paint and mailbox posts.

·         The Board, in its March meeting, approved extending pool hours after school starts in August until Labor Day. So enjoy the pool during these extra hours.

·         All Lee’s Crossing residents should have received a Speed Table Ballot in the last week. If you have not received a ballot, please contact the City or a Board member. Please consider the options and send in your ballot by June 24th.

I hope all will have an opportunity to enjoy this slow arriving spring.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments about the neighborhood.

Neighbors,

Please instruct any large trucks (sod, moving vans, etc.) to use the back entrance (west, Dallas Hwy.).  Recent destruction of the median at our entrance was caused by such a truck. Repairing the sprinkler heads both in the median and along the sidewalk and at the top of the hill costs money to replace/repair. Please be careful to protect our landscaping and irrigation system everywhere (including Manning Rd. curb). If everyone co-operates, signs or other unattractive things should not be necessary.

Thanks!

Lee’s Crossing Cyclones

Swim Team

After school practices will begin May 13th - weather permitting.  Morning practices will begin Tuesday May 28th.   Meets will be held on THURSDAY (correction from last month) evenings this year.  We will have two home meets scheduled for June 13th and 27th.

Parent support is required!   There will be a team meeting on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7pm in the clubhouse.  It takes many hands to run a swim team.  So please be ready to lend yours.

Registration packets – including more information about practice times and meet schedules will be emailed out to last year’s team.  This information will also be available at registration.

If you would like to join us please contact me for a packet or further information.

Dear Lee’s Crossing Residents,

I hope this letter finds you well!  I was recently nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2013 Woman of The Year.  This is an annual 10-week fundraising campaign to support Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. I am truly humbled and honored to have been nominated for this cause!

It is heartbreaking to think that every 4 minutes someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer.  Over the years, I have lost several family members and friends to cancer.  Almost everyone I know has either known someone touched by the disease or has fought the battle themselves.  I am determined to do whatever it takes to help find a cure.

My goal is to raise $75,000, and I need your generous support to achieve this number in support of the local LLS goal of over $650,000.  I am sending this letter who I believe would be willing to contribute in support of this effort.

Another great option is to buy 2 tickets to the Finale Gala on June 8th for $150/ea.  The link to order tickets is:  http://www.mwoy.org/ga/localchapter/atlanta/finale.   I really appreciate a contribution of any amount.  Your donation is tax deductible and will go directly to the fulfillment of the Society's mission.

Simply go online to http://www.mwoy.org/pages/ga/atlanta13/knapiers26 and click on the "make your donation" link to be directed to a secure web site to donate.  You will immediately receive an email receipt confirming your tax deductible donation.   All donations must be received by June 8, 2013.

As a final request I ask that you please use your circle of influence and ask for help on behalf of my campaign.  It would mean the world to me, if you would forward the link above with your personal comments to everyone you know.  Your help would be very much appreciated!

If you have any questions, please call me on my cell phone 786-897-1397 or email me at Kelly.Napier@Assurant.com.  I would love to talk with you and tell you more about my campaign.  Partner with me, and together we can help advance the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I look forward to speaking with you very soon.

Sincerely,

Kelly Napier

I Recommend:

Melinda Hubbard would like to recommend Paula Leak of The Ultimate ReUp 770-853-1602.  She recovered my kitchen chair bottoms and cut down (remade) some outdoor chair cushions for me.  I was very happy with her work and her prices are reasonable!

Tom Prosser would like to recommend Capitol One Pressure Cleaning owned by Finnis Jones, a Lee's Crossing resident.  He recently pressure washed our patio, driveway and sidewalk.  He did an excellent job and the surfaces look brand new.
