Lee’s Crossing

Monthly Newsletter                                                                      May   2012

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you are all doing well.

Someone needs to turn off the heat. We did not mind the warmer winter, but we certainly don’t need summer temperatures this early.  The swim team registration is complete and everyone is getting organized. Practice begins in just a few weeks, while the rest of us will have to wait for the pool opening Memorial Day weekend.

While on the subject of the pool, the Board has been reviewing options for making sure only Lee’s Crossing residents and their accompanied guests are allowed access.  For this season we have decided to have a gate attendant that will be asking for an address and phone number that will be checked against the Lee’s Crossing registry.   Please do not take offence at being asked.  The persons monitoring the gate will get to recognize regular attendees, so being asked for this info will taper off as we get into the season.  Complete pool rules can be found at the Lee’s Crossing Web Site, www.leescrossingmariettaga.com.

It is amazing that only a few weeks remain for the 2011-2012 school year.  I am sure everyone is looking forward to the school break.  I hope all the Lee’s Crossing students have had a great year of learning and enjoying all the school activities.  I want to thank Barry Christensen for taking care of the graduating High School and College Graduates banner that will be placed at the front entrance.   If you missed the notice in the April newsletter, please email Barry at bschristensen@mindspring.com with your graduating student’s name and school.

The Social Committee continues to have monthly events for the neighborhood with the Memorial Day pool opening coming up.  I want to thank all the committee members and volunteers that put on these events all year long.

That is all I have for now.  Stay cool in this warm weather, and don’t hesitate to contact me, any Board member or send a note to Leescrossing@comcast.net with any questions you may have.

Lee’s Crossing Cyclones

Swim Team

The 2012 Team is looking good.  We have over 100 swimmers registered – with room for a few more.  While the majority of the team is made up of returning swimmers, we have quite a number of new participants.  A couple of age groups are full!  But we would like to add swimmers in some groups – specifically 5 & 6 year olds (both boys and girls) and 13 & 14 year old (girls).  If you or anyone you know have any swimmers who might like to join us please have them get in touch with me.

Our team will be participating in five meets – two meets will be held here in Lee’s Crossing.  In order to accommodate our home meets, the pool will be closing at 4 pm on the following Wednesdays:  May 30th and June 13th.  Feel free to stop by and check out the action!  In addition, we will be holding our End-of-Season Party on Thursday June 29th – the pool will only be open to Swim Team participants and their families beginning at 5pm.

If you would like any further information please contact Susan Herr @ sdherr@comcast.net

Newsletter Submission Guidelines

The Lee’s Crossing newsletter is a publication for the residents of Lee’s Crossing.  Therefore, all submissions must come from residents of the community.  Submissions from outside the community are not accepted.

All submissions MUST be sent either to leescrossing@comcast.net or to trevathan.angelia@gmail.com.  Please make sure that you are sending submissions to one of these addresses.

All submissions must be in Word format – no PDF’s.  Also, please do not send articles from other publications for print (newspaper articles, brochures, etc.) as some of these may be copyright protected materials.

All classifieds are for neighborhood residents only and are not for referrals.  Classifieds run for one month unless otherwise specified, but please don’t ask for an indefinite run of an ad.

The Neighborhood Business Spotlight and the “I Recommend” sections are to be limited to one paragraph and run for one month increments.  No back-to-back months.  No exceptions.    The Business Spotlight is First Come/First Serve on a space available basis and I really try to not run the same type business the same month.  This allows for it to be an actual spotlight and not a commercial.

I truly try to keep the deadline for the next month’s newsletter as the 28th of the current month so that I can get it out on the 1st.  However, sometimes circumstances dictate that the deadline has to be a day earlier or that the newsletter has to be a day late going out.  Please be understanding if this happens.

I Recommend:

Gordon Pfeiffer would like to recommend Marietta Tree Service, especially for small jobs.  They are local so you can get them to come out for $150 to $500 type jobs.  Very friendly and reliable.  770-425-9010.

Gordon Pfeiffer would also like to recommend David at Lawn Sprinkler Services for any irrigation repairs and installation.  He has serviced our neighborhood systems for years, and has always done a great job.  770-386-0041.
