Monthly
Newsletter
March 2013
Greetings Neighbors,
I hope you all are well and looking
forward to hopefully an early spring. I
know I am.
First, I want to let you all
know that Kevin Brown is leaving the Lee’s Crossing Board of Directors after
15+ years of service to our community.
Kevin has been a long time active member in our community, helping to
grow and shape it over the many years he and his family have lived here. I think most of us not know him from his
involvement with the Social Committee, but also from being on the men’s tennis
teams and the Board for so many years.
His contribution to the neighborhood has been positive for us all. Thank you, Kevin, and we will be seeing you
around the neighborhood.
The City public works council
had another working session on Feb25th to further discuss the speed table
ordinance. Walt Walker was able to attend for the Board along with a few
residents. They had another opportunity to talk with the council on the pros
and cons for the tables. No decisions
have been made yet on whether or not the whole neighborhood will get to vote on
the proposed speed tables. We will
continue to send out notices of planned City meetings where the speed table
ordinance is involved.
In a continuing effort to
improve overall communication to the neighborhood, a new sign will be posted at
the front entrance when the newsletter comes out. The sign will have the LC website listed and also
let you know a newsletter can be picked up from the mailbox by the clubhouse
front door. The Board decided in the
February meeting to start posting the meeting minutes on the LC website so
residents can see what topics were discussed.
Meeting minutes will not immediately be posted after each Board meeting
since they must be reviewed and approved by the Board.
I hate to end on a negative subject,
but recent complaints of a few people walking their dogs around the Clubhouse
lawn and playground areas and not cleaning up after their pets are just
appalling. These areas are for all our
residents’ children to enjoy. I hope the
offenders see this and feel ashamed of their activity. There is no reason this should be happening. Please pick up after your pets or don’t walk
them at the Clubhouse.
Please don’t hesitate to
contact me or send a note to LeesCrossing@comcast.net for questions you may have regarding our
neighborhood.
Be healthy and safe and I will see you around the neighborhood.

Swim Team
Winter? When was that? I am sure everyone is ready to swim!
Registration for the 2013 Swim Team will be held at the
clubhouse on Monday April 15th from
The team suit will not be new this year – swimmers are welcome to wear a previous design - if you are in need, suits will be available for purchase at registration.
After school practices will begin Monday May 13th. Morning practices will begin Tuesday May 28th. Based on the county’s rotating schedule, our meets will be held on Wednesday evenings this year.
Parent support is required! We are in need a few more volunteers for the swim team committee including but not limited to swim suit sales, end of year party, pictures, etc. Please contact Laura for more information. It is mandatory for parents to work at least one full meet or two half meets. Many parents work much more and their efforts are greatly appreciated!!
Registration packets – including more information about practice and meet schedules – will be emailed out to last year’s team. This information will also be available at registration.
If you would like to join us please contact me for a packet or further information.

Leesure Ladies of Lee’s Crossing
The Leesure Ladies, a women’s group in the neighborhood, welcomes new members. You don’t have to be a retiree to join. Leesure Ladies meet once a month and dues are $6 a year. The group has social gatherings in the neighborhood and field trips to nearby historical sites, garden centers, shops and restaurants. If you would like to join us, contact president Judy Greene at jgreene199@comcast.net or 770-792-8734.
Troop 144 will be Scouting for Food -- On Monday, March 11th, Boy Scouts will be placing plastic bags on the doors in Lee's Crossing. They will collect any items that you place in the bag the following Saturday, March 16th, beginning at 9:00 A.M. These items will be delivered to a local food bank. We collected nearly 500 items of food in Lee's Crossing last year and the Troop and food bank were greatly appreciative of your generosity. If you have any questions, you may call Diane Edwards at 770-575-0445.
The annual neighborhood yard sale will be on Saturday,
April 27, from 8am to 1pm.
Ads
will be placed in the Marietta paper, and signs on Whitlock Avenue will
also be put out directing people to Lee's Crossing. Each home having a sale may
put out their own signs, but please take them down after the sale. In past
years, residents of Lee's Crossing have had a
preview of the sales the night
before. Good luck to everyone who participates.
