Lee’s Crossing
Monthly
Newsletter July 2012
Dear Neighbors,
I hope you are all finding some fun ways to stay cool. The official start of summer has brought with it some scorching temperatures.
I want to congratulate the Lee’s Crossing Swim team for another fun season. The season wrapped up with a nice team party on June 29th at the pool. I think we had more swimmers than ever this season. I want to thank Susan Herr (my wife) for her many years of being the team coordinator. She is relinquishing the reins to a new group of parents that are forming to pick up management of the team and continuing the team for its 21st season. The Board greatly appreciates the parents that are looking to take over the team. I can’t say enough about how great a community activity the team is.
There has been some confusion regarding the pool and having a youth party at the clubhouse. Recent updates to the rules have been made and posted on the Lee’s Crossing Web site. I have included a link to the rules: http://www.leescrossingmariettaga.com/lc_st_operating_rules.pdf . Youth parties of up to 14 guests for children 14 and under can use the pool and rent either a pavilion or the clubhouse. If the count of guests, including parents intending to swim, exceeds 14, then the party organizer must arrange for an additional lifeguard. If this limit is exceeded then the lifeguard can restrict the number of swimmers from the party. This is required for everyone’s safety.
I have one last comment for those that visit the pool. It has become a habit for some visitors to leave trash sitting out around the pool. It is every visitor’s responsibility to clean up the area around them when leaving. The gum and wrappers, popsicle sticks, cans\bottles and paper are a significant issue. Please discuss this with your children if they attend the pool by themselves. It is very discourteous to everyone that uses to the pool and those that try and maintain a nice facility to leave trash lying around.
The 4th of July is here already. I hope you all have some fun plans with your
families in celebrating the 229th birthday of the
With that, stay cool and don’t hesitate to contact me, any Board member or send a note to Leescrossing@comcast.net on questions you may have.
Have a great 4th of July!

you to join us for our
Lee’s
Crossing Team Trivia Party
Sat,
July 28th
Rain or
Shine
6-10 pm
(estimated
game time from 6:30-9:00)
Join
forces with your neighbors and create teams of 2 to 8 people, make sure you
have a kid or two in your group! Joe and
Beth Garrett will test your knowledge from many different categories like
sports, currency, geography, movies, and science to name a few!
Participating
teams can enjoy Mexican food along with margaritas, beer, soft drinks, and
water.
If you participated in previous
years, you will remember that we have had a much larger turn out than expected
(thus had a shortage of food) and also a smaller turnout because of rain (and a
surplus of food). For this reason, we
will require an RSVP.
We want to have a big crowd AND the right amount of food!
Please
let us know how many adults and children will be attending. Limit 2 guests at
$12/each
Also, if you
would consider helping us with set-up and clean-up and want to get involved,
please let us know.

Our 2012 Season has come to an end…and while we did not have a winning season (we were competing in a higher division) I think it was a winning experience for everyone. We celebrated all our swimmers growth and issued some awards at our end-of-season party and it is now time to pack up and look forward to next year.
This concludes my final season as the team coordinator, but fortunately there are some very good parents from both inside and outside the neighborhood who seem to be willing to work as a team to continue this program. The Summer Swim League is a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages and abilities to come together and compete in a relatively relaxed atmosphere and I hope people will continue to step up and commit to what is necessary to keep the program going in the years to come.
Several residents have inquired about adding Wi-Fi at the clubhouse, and now it is available. The network name is lcswimtennis, and if you are asked for a password use that same name. You should be able to connect anywhere in the pool area, the tennis pavilion, or the clubhouse.

I Recommend:
Scott Graham wants to recommend a fantastic painter, Chuck Maxwell
of Painting by Maxwell,
LLC.
“For years, I've recommended Chuck to friends with nothing but "thank
you" in return. He is competitive, conscientious and guarantees
satisfaction. I guess you could say that painting is in his
blood--his great-grandfather, grandfather and father were all
painters. Chuck has recently been awarded the Super Service Award by
Angie's List. Whether you need interior or exterior painting, Chuck is
your man!” Contact Chuck
