Lee’s Crossing
Monthly
Newsletter January
2012
Dear Neighbors,
I
hope you had a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah and an enjoyable New Year
celebration. I also hope the start of
the New Year finds you and your family doing well.
Just
a quick update on the Traton Homes development;
the City Council has further delayed the Traton variance request, giving
them more time to complete and submit a new tree save plan to the city. Traton and Griff Chalfant, or at least Griff,
will be getting back to the Board when Traton has a new plan.
Regarding speeding in the
neighborhood, there was another incident on Lee’s Trace at the front of the
neighborhood where mailboxes were taken out by a car going too fast around the
corner. The Board has contacted Marietta
Police Department to have a speed indicator/monitor placed on Lee’s Trace
between Park Creek Court and Trailside Lane for a week, and will report back
the statistics collected. We don’t have
a date yet when it will be in place, but we expect it to be very soon.
With the recent repeated
incidents there is a significant safety concern for the residents and walkers
in these trouble areas. Drivers from
outside the neighborhood play a part in this issue as well. With the increased rate of these incidents it
may only be a matter of time before a significant accident happens. The Board is reviewing further options to try
and reduce this risk.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Dollar On Your Door collection. Also thank you to Erroll Eckford for coordinating the collection. Over $1300 was collected this year and I know our sanitation workers greatly appreciated the gift. They do a great job for Lee’s Crossing.
That is all I have. Be safe and healthy and I will see you around the neighborhood.

Congratulations to Diane Edwards and her B7 Thursday ALTA Women's team who won the city championship this fall. This team has made it to the city finals 3 times in recent years and finally got over the top this time. This is only the third ALTA city championship in our neighborhood's history, and the first in 15 years.
