Lee’s Crossing

Monthly Newsletter                                                              December 2011

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you all had a wonderful start to the holiday season and had the most enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Our biggest activity by far was the Traton Homes/Rockford Township Variance request. The Board members and a number of Lee’s Crossing residents attended the city council meeting to oppose the request. We were successful in postponing the variance review to the Dec 14th council meeting.  As a result, it was agreed to by all parties (Traton Homes, Griff Chalfant and LCHA Board members) to meet and walk the border of Lee’s Crossing and Rockford Township. I want to thank Walt Walker and Angela Ford for being able to attend this meeting.  This resulted in Traton Homes having to put together a new tree save plan and submit it to the city.  The previous variance request is due to be back on the city agenda for the Dec 14th meeting, but our position is that this should not come up again until Traton submits their new plan.  This effort is being worked and we will know prior to the Dec 14th meeting if we need to attend to keep this variance request from being approved.

I want to thank everyone who provided input to the Board and helped collect information to make our case with the city.  It is much appreciated.

Our next Board meeting is planned for Dec 8th where we will be discussing the proposed budget put out in last month’s newsletter.  As with any Board meeting, please feel free to attend and bring up any questions for discussion.  We value your input.

That is all I have for you, but the Board and I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas/Holiday season and best wishes for the New Year!

As always, if you should ever have any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me. My home phone number is (770) 499-9354.

Dollar on Your Door

Lee’s Crossing’s annual “Dollar on Your Door” fundraiser will take place on the weekend of December 10-11.  This is our neighborhood’s way to say “Thank You” to our sanitation workers during the holidays.  These gentlemen help us out more than we realize throughout the year, and are very generous in what they collect!  Last year we collected over $1,150 for them, so let’s try and top that this year!  Please leave your contribution in an envelope taped to your front door on either Saturday, December 10 or Sunday, December 11 by 3 p.m.  Volunteers will collect your gifts between 3 and 5 p.m. each day.  If you would like to volunteer, (great service project for IB students) please contact the Eckfords at 770-421-9738.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Clubhouse Rentals

If you have any questions or need to book the clubhouse, please call or e-mail Tricia Wilson at 770-428-8144 or triciaww@mindspring.com.  In an effort to keep our Clubhouse clean and in the best condition, the rental deposit has increased to $250.  However, if you return the clubhouse after rental in its best condition, the entire deposit will be returned.
