Lee’s Crossing

Monthly Newsletter                                                                   August 2010

Hello Neighbors!

I hope this letter finds everyone well and cool!

Even though you would not know it temperature wise, summer vacation is almost over for our school kids.  With that in mind, please use extra caution when driving through the neighborhood.  The Marietta Police Department has indicated that they will be stepping up their patrols when school starts, so consider this your warning.

We continue to get numerous complaints about people not cleaning up after their dogs.  Please be considerate of your neighbors if you are one of these people.  Cobb County Animal Control has been notified as this has remained a persistent problem

As always, if you should ever have any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me.  My home phone number is (770) 420-3484.  Take care, and I will see you around the neighborhood!

Jim Martin

Around the Neighborhood

Thank You!

Dear Lees Crossing Residents,

Thank you for your help donating pet food items to Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen. I was able to deliver 152 pounds of dry dog food and 46 pounds of dry cat food along with 9 cans of dog/cat food and 6 dog treats. When I delivered the food, the volunteer was very pleased because their shelves were empty. The animals and I are very grateful for your help!

  1. L. Burruss Silent Auction

Our neighborhood elementary school, A.L. Burruss, is soliciting donations for their annual Silent Auction.  The auction is the largest PTA fundraiser of the year and takes place during the school's Fall Festival.  This year the auction and fall festival will be held the evening of Friday, October 1st.  With the current economic downturn, many larger corporations that donated in the past are reducing or eliminating donations, so we are particularly relying on our friends and neighbors to help make this year's auction a success.  Please contact Katie White at (770) 833-8558 or ekwhite@gmail.com with any gift certificates, vacation homes, services, goods, or anything you might like to donate.  All donations are tax deductible.

Glover Park Concert Series Schedule

All concerts begin at 8:00 pm.  A limited number of tables are available for rent.  Tables may be reserved on the first working day of the month beginning at 8:00 AM, 770-794-5601.  Blankets and lawn chairs only are allowed in the park and may be put out after 4:00 PM on Friday afternoon. No tarps or tents allowed!  Tables and chairs may be brought and set up in the street on North Park Square after 6:00 PM.  Call Marietta Parks, Recreation & Facilities at 770-794-5601 for more information.
