From the President…
Spring is here and our
neighborhood looks great! The azaleas
are in full bloom, the dogwoods brighten the woods, tennis teams are in full
swing and the swim team is signing up.
Thanks to all your hard work, our neighborhood is looking better than
ever. Spring also brings the start of
the Glover Park Concert Series on the

As we emerge from winter hibernation and get outside, I offer a few reminders:
§ Please ensure you or your lawn service do not blow grass clippings into the street. It may be easy, but it does not add to the beauty of our neighborhood.
When driving, please observe the posted speed
limit of 25
§ City Ordinance and neighborhood covenants require all dogs to be maintained on a leash. Please observe this rule and be courteous in cleaning up after your pet on walks.
After a long winter (of fairly good weather) our clubhouse expansion is nearing completion and should be ready for a grand opening in the next couple of months. The Board is pleased with the new addition and is excited about the opportunities it offers for the neighborhood. Many residents have taken the opportunity to walk through the construction and are equally excited. So take a walk and check it out!
In closing, I would like to provide a short update on the Manning property. By the time of publication, the City Council probably will have approved the zoning of the Manning property allowing the purchase of the property by the developer. The large tract of land adjacent to Lee’s Crossing will have 60 homes ranging in size from 2,800 to 4,000 square feet with prices from $600,000 to $700,000. The historic Manning House and trees will be preserved on 4.23 acres. The acreage across the street will have 33 homes ranging in size from 2,200 to 2,600 square feet with prices starting at $400,000.
In an effort to protect the interests of our neighbors, the Board has retained the services of an attorney specializing in zoning and development issues. Prior to the Planning Commission meeting, members of the LCHA Board and our attorney met with the developer to discuss issues of concern to Lee’s Crossing. In this meeting, the developer agreed on stipulations to meet our concerns. These stipulations included:
§ No rear alleys or rear entry garages on lots that abut Lee’s Crossing
§ Storm water retention areas will be screened by stone wall or other aesthetic screening device.
§ The minimum heated and cooled square footage for the homes will be 2800 square feet.
§ Any trees greater than 4” diameter within 25 feet of the rear property line will not be removed and will be maintained in perpetuity on any lots that abut Lee’s Crossing.
Additionally, we had recorded
into the minutes of the Planning Commission, and will do the same with the City
Council meeting, our concerns about appropriate traffic controls on
As always, I welcome your input and comments.
