From the President
Hello Neighbors! Spring greetings! My name is Jim Martin and it will be my
privilege to serve as your President this year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing president Walt
Walker for his leadership and tireless efforts in the neighborhood.
Spring is here (I think!), and
the time has come to start sprucing up our yards. I know that mine certainly needs some
attention. Just remember, if you are
going to make any major changes to your landscaping, contact David Waldrep for
approval prior to beginning work.
I have received two reports
recently about coyotes in the neighborhood so remember to keep an eye on your
pets and small children when they are outside.
Again, I look forward to
serving you. If you have any comments or
concerns, please do not hesitate to call me.
My home phone number is (770)
420-3484. Take care and I will see you
around the neighborhood!
Sincerely,
Jim Martin

will be held Monday April 13th
from
If you would like to take care of your registration prior to this date please feel free to drop off or mail your registration directly to me – you might email me so that I may be on the look-out for it.
The team will be wearing the same suits this season, but if you are new to the team or need a larger size, the suit will be available at registration. We have also discussed trying to better organize a process of offering those suits you have that no longer fit to others – if anyone is interested in helping with this process please let me know.
This season we will be swimming on Thursday nights beginning May 28th and continuing for 5 weeks though June 25th. After school practices will begin May 11th, weather permitting, with morning practices beginning Tuesday May 26th.
Registration packets – including actual practice and meet schedules, meet attendance forms and parent worker preferences, (it is mandatory for parents to work at least one full meet or two half meets) will be sent out via email to those on last year’s email distribution list. This information will also be available at registration.
If you would like to join us please contact me for a packet or further information. Susan Herr

From Genesis Landscape
Now that the winter
weather has finally gone elsewhere (we hope), it is time to get ready for the
growing season.
Vegetable gardeners,
this is the month to get those seeds in! After the danger of frost damage is
past, you should also plant summer annuals and summer flowering bulbs.
Prune spring
blooming shrubs after flowering. With
Azaleas in particular, you should complete any pruning by the 4th of
July. New buds will set soon after and
any pruning beyond that time will reduce flower production the following
year. Now is also a good time to
de-thatch lawns.
Insect populations
will not have been diminished by our fairly mild winter, so you should be
vigilant for problems of this nature.
Plants will require
water as they awake from their winter slumber.
In the absence of adequate rainfall, soak planting areas once a week in
accordance with the following state allowances:
You may
use soaker hoses or drip irrigation systems on established plants for one hour
between Midnight and 10 AM, on the odd/even address schedule. Hand
watering for 25 minutes is still permitted for even and unnumbered addresses on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and for odd numbered addresses on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and
Sundays. See www.outdoorwateruse.com for details
on how to obtain a permit to water newly installed landscape for 10 weeks.
Genesis Landscape Group would be happy
to answer your questions and offers a free on-site consultation of your
home. Our number is 770-422-5534.
